Perth has a pretty good public transport system that runs regular bus service between Perth City, Fremantle, The Sunset Coast and the suburban areas of Perth. Buses run very regularly during the week and the service is quite considerably scaled down on weekends.

Perth buses

To catch the bus in Perth the best way to plan your trip is to visit the Transperth website where you can log in both your starting point and destination and your trip options will be calculated for you. Alternatively you can gain more information by visiting one of the Transperth Information services where staff can advise you on your trip and provide you with bus timetables and important route information. The Information service offices are located in the city center one in the main bus terminal on Wellington Street and one at the Perth city Train Station, also on Wellington Street in the Perth Central Business District. The Esplanade Bus terminal can also provide you with information and is located on Mounts Bay Road.

Perth boasts some of the most modern buses and many of which are built with a hydraulic lift and ramp system that make them wheelchair and stroller friendly.

Within Inner City Perth and Fremantle there is a small fleet of free buses, called CATs. These buses service the popular tourist routes of both Perth City and the Fremantle district and are completely free. The stops are dotted around the centre of both cities and come with a handy red button which lets you know when the next bus is due to arrive.
