Perth accommodation

Perth hotels

When you are choosing your accommodation in Perth, you first need to choose the sort of backdrop you want for your stay here! With the option of a city or a beach hotel, this first decision will dictate the area that might want to be in the first instance.

I personally travelled around Perth on a budget sampling the nightlife and backpacker hostels! And if this is your style (and budget) then the two well known backpackers are the Ocean Beach Hotel in Cottesloe and the Witches Hat Backpackers in Northbridge. Both offer cheap, clean accommodation that you would expect from any backpackers with rooms in a dorm starting from $25 pppn. The OBH backpackers has a brilliant setting right on Cottesloe beach, and from here you can watch the sun go down over the ocean whilst sipping on your Emu Bitter! If you prefer to be nearer the nightlife then the Witches Hat is in a great spot near to the many nightspots in Northbridge, and again is only a short bus or train ride away to the shops and beaches.

If you are looking for something a little more upmarket then I would suggest the Holiday Inn at Burswood. Even though staying in what I call a "brand" hotel is perhaps not the most romantic accommodation, the fact that the infamous Burswood Dome is right on the doorstep swayed my decision to book this hotel for my parents whilst they were over visiting me.

My parents stayed here for a couple of nights whilst catching a concert or two and enjoyed betting a few well earned dollars at the casino! I could relax knowing that they had plenty to occupy them while I was at work and being a big brand hotel they knew exactly what to expect. It did what it said on the tin! I believe they paid around $200 per night, although there is the Intercontinental next door as well which is a similar standard, so you can decide which one suits you using "paper, scissors, stone" if you really can't choose between them!
